Competition Tanning

The world of fitness competitions is a unique one - so much preparation goes into it! If you’re preparing for an upcoming competition, here are some things to know:

• Models need to be SUPER dark

• They need be hydrated 

• Different categories may require different solution or different amount of solution

• Women will be nude, and men may wear disposable thong or sock over their genital

• You should wear a proper nose filters to prevent yourself from inhaling and excessive amount of solution 

• Models will be tanned up to five coats of solution- the night before the show and the next morning

• Don’t spray the face - ombre on upper body and neck so there is no demarcation 

• Client need to thoroughly exfoliate before they come 

• Ensure they are completely dry before getting dressed 

Sometimes things don’t go as planned! Here’s how to fix smudges: 

• Use prep spray on a blending brush - blend around demarcation

• Use Baby wipe to blot out area 

• Respray area and entire body if required to deeper colour 

• Set with powder (blown into the skin) 

• Fully re-dry the area

• If you cannot re-spray, apply matching foundation over area to hide any discoloration 

• Remove any mistakes on hands and feet (over saturation with Xtan remover, baby wipes and a nail file if necessary. Clean with baby wipes when complete so there is no residue left on the skin of the remover) 

And finally, when you’re backstage prepping for the stage:

• Oil up clients

• Ladies like oil with sparkles ;) 

• Apply with hands and buff out with large makeup puff and / or buffing brush 

• Hide any areas with foundation that don’t look perfect 

• Apply bikini bite to hold garmets to the skin (only use if necessary since this is basically skin glue and will remove the tan) So if they are changing outfits this product is NOT recommended

Here’s what you need to know:

How long will my spray tan last?
•With proper care of the tan you can expect it to last 6-10 days.

How long does it take?
•The entire process will take less than 30 minutes.

Will it cover my tattoo?
•Nope, you will see them fully.

Do you have group or bridal package services?
•Yes, we specialize in bridal & would love to get more details about your big day to see which options will suit your & your party the best.

How long before my wedding should I get my tan?
•We recommend 48 hours before your wedding.

Should I have a trial? If so when?
•Absolutely we highly recommend a trial. If you can coordinate with another wedding related event such as your bridal shower, makeup + hair trial ect that would be ideal.
But, a minimum 3 weeks before your wedding.

Spray Tans + Weddings

Spray tanning can often be a service that is overlooked for brides. 

As a sunless provider, it is our responsibility & joy to educate our clients on the benefits of going sunless for their weddings.

We already know the perks but let’s be sure we share them with our bride-to-be clients.

• THE PINTEREST BRIDE 

Every single Pinterest photo bridal look has a glowy-looking bride. Let’s be real that’s where brides are going to look for their wedding day beauty inspo. As a Makeup Artist also, I find I am just not able to get that overall glow without a tan. Makeup alone won’t cut it. Trust me the makeup artist will thank you when she goes to do the makeup if your bride has a well-executed tan. Plus the photos look so bomb! 

• SNOW WHITE

Who wants to be the same color as their wedding dress LOL?

Even with the trend of nude underlays & blush-toned gowns...pale skin is not the most complimentary complexion on gorgeous detailed light-colored gowns. 

• TAN LINES 

Tan lines & strapless dresses….a common problem for brides. 

We would love to be able to get a perfectly even tan naturally but unless you are lying naked outside it's not going to happen. 

Number one: Who’s got time for that.

Number two: Too much sun exposure can be damaging to the skin. 

The awesome thing about airbrush spray tanning is that they can be 100% customized to suit each and every bride & their skin concerns. This means you have a farmer’s tan, a sports bra tan, a Birkenstock sandals tan, no problem it can be corrected. 

• PHOTO CONSISTENCY

If you are like me, my husband and my skin tones are literally the exact opposite. This is lovely and all unless you are a photographer. It can be hard to capture the proper flash balance when there are a wide variety of skin tones in one photo. If you have a deep skin tone next to a super fair completion they don’t always photograph well together. One or the other is getting lost or washed out. 

Getting a tan can actually help to correct this problem & the contrast is not as obvious on camera. 

• UNEVEN SKIN

Perhaps your bride has a tanned complexion already. But some areas that don’t see the sun as often can have a totally different tone. A spray tan helps to even out the skin tone, neutralizes spider veins, the appearance of bruises reduce the appearance of ashy or drier areas & allover just give each person a glow no matter the complexion. #winwin

• HEALTHIER & SKINNIER

We love & cherish ALL body types, but who doesn’t want to look glowing ( creating a feeling & appearance of radiance & just looking healthy).

And hey, toned, tighter & skinnier? Why not! 

Brides want to look & feel their best for their wedding day, dress on and also once that dress comes off ;)
